The Most Noticeable Underwear

From time memorial, fashion has been switching between the feminine and masculine. Gone are the days of cone-shaped bust, “wasp waist”, and “false buttocks”. Today, lingerie is the most beautiful, luxurious and feminine clothes that is worn intimately and appreciated for its practicality and comfort.

Looking back on the most noticeable styles in lingerie past, the first pieces of underwear can be traced to the ancient civilization of Egypt and Greece, when women of Crete wore corsets to support the breasts.

The history of underwear is considered to having begun in the 18th century times. The padded silhouette with a flat stomach, narrow waist and cone-shaped bust were in fashion. The corset, an essential part of any woman’s wardrobe of that time, gave women’s bodies unnatural shapes, compressing their internal organs and causing them to faint.

This excessive use of satin, silk, and damask, decorated with embroidery, ribbons and laces was meant to merely create the effect of artistry.

In the 19th century, corsets, crinolines and bustles controlled women’s bodies and S-shaped silhouette came into being. The corset with a bustle in the back made a woman sit with the very tip of her bottom on the edge of the chair.

Infact women wore about five ponds of underwear (knickers, corset, camisole and waist slip) and corseted themselves tighter than ever. The crinoline supported yards of fabric completely exaggerated women’s figure.

In the 20th century, Lingerie became simpler and more practical. Corsets were substituted for a more flexible girdle with the modern bra. Paste colors for lingerie came into use. Later the masculine silhouette rocked the market. No waist, no hips, no bottom figure was a model of admiration.

By the 1930s real femininity was back again, the one-piece garments known as corsets consisting of a rounded and bust-emphasizing brassiere and girdle with garters decently covered a woman. But one-piece corsets continued to be widely used. Panties grew smaller and smaller and eventually took the shape of bikini briefs.

To the present times, it is pushing women to show off the underwear as outerwear that is worn for the visual enjoyment of a partner to the extent that lingerie is thought of by many women as a second skin.

Lingerie is meant to be sensual, elegant, feminine, and exciting. It is much more than just an ordinary underwear; it is the most intimate clothes that can make a woman feel confident and powerful, develop identity, sexuality and design silhouette.
